Bible Verses
… The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16, NLT
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12, NKJV
What is a Prayer Champion?
Does the word “champion” bring any words, themes, or images to mind? Consider the following description: winner, fierce competitor, fearless, committed and highly disciplined.
“Champions” excel in a variety of fields… sports, cooking, baking, quilting, gardening, gymnastics, etc. There are both sacrifices AND rewards for competing successfully – medals, monetary prizes, endorsement opportunities and prize money. For example, the Grand Prize Winner of the 49th Pillsbury Bake-Off® contest walked away with a $50,00 cash prize.
Regarding Christian prayer, there are two definitions from Dictionary.com that could describe a Prayer Champion:
- a fighter or warrior
- a person who fights for or defends any person or cause: a champion of the oppressed
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines a champion as a warrior or fighter, one that does battle for another’s rights or honor. (©2023 Merriam Webster, Inc)
Would you agree that committed Prayer Champions are needed today?
News headlines about war, inflation, crime, drugs, and mass shootings are grim and depressing – stirring up confusion, fear, doubt, worry, anxiety, discouragement, and defeat. Without fervent intercessory prayer and a consistent focus on God’s Word (The Bible), our precious children, families, communities, churches, and society are heading into a downward spiral.
Prayer is powerful!
