Bible Verse

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.   1 Timothy 2:1-2, NLT

Your heartfelt, spirit-led prayers for others ( family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, government officials, or even people you meet on an airplane) can make a huge difference!   Even if you don’t see immediate results, believe that God loves all people and wants you to pray for them… in the moment and possibly over the long-term!

Many years ago, I was rushing through the Miami airport to catch my connecting flight. The flight attendant  directed me to a middle seat near the front of the plane. Minutes later, a young woman – Myra (not her real name)-  was directed to the aisle seat next to me.  During the three-hour flight we began chatting about vacations, travel, and other topics. Myra revealed the hardships of her upbringing, grief concerning her father’s death, and info about her current job as a strip-tease dancer in a gentleman’s nightclub.  After she poured out her story of  heartache, pain  and disappointment, I shifted the conversation to the topic of “peace”.  I opened my tiny travel bible, showed her a few scriptures and mentioned  that Jesus loved her. Then Myra and I prayed together regarding her salvation. Years later, the Lord still prompts me to pray for Myra. I don’t know where she is or what’s going on in her life… but God does.

Ask the Lord to guide you concerning praying for others!  You can make a difference today!
